As a graduate of the University of North Texas, Kathy Draves taught Elementary Music for 19 years in Southlake, Arlington and Carrollton. Now retired, she is still an active member of the North Texas Chapter of AOSA (American Orff Schulwerk Association) where she has held several officer’s positions. She received her Master of Music in Music Education at the University of Texas at Arlington and teaches Elementary Methods, World Music and supervises student teachers.
Kathy has presented various workshops, including local and statewide in-service for elementary music educators, early childhood sessions, state workshops at TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) and national AOSA Conference. She has certification levels in Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly and elementary Music Learning Theory from various schools including SMU, University of Texas at Arlington and Michigan State University. During the summer, Kathy is the Assistant Director of SMU Music Educator Workshops. In addition, Kathy was the co-LCC (Local Conference Chair) for the 2017 AOSA Conference held in Ft. Worth. Kathy also volunteers as Artistic Director for the Musical Memory Singers, a newly formed chorus in Pantego/Arlington. The members are our friends who are experiencing mild to Intermediate Alzheimer’s/dementia, their care partners, and community volunteers.
