The North Texas Chapter of the American Orff-Schulwerk Association is organized by area music teachers to provide Saturday workshops with national Orff clinicians. These workshops present methods of using the Orff-Schulwerk process in the elementary music classroom.

Workshop Location
Workshops are from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m with registration beginning at 8:30. Workshops will no longer be at the University of Texas at Arlington. Our new location is:

Cost
$10 chapter dues (once a year) plus $25-$30 fee per workshop

Clinician Bios
Rick Layton
Rick Layton is Head of the Fine and Performing Arts Department at the Key School in Annapolis, MD., where he teaches Orff Schulwerk, Music Theory, and directs the Renaissance Consort, Chamber Choir, and Upper School Chorus. In addition to his undergraduate degree in music education, Rick holds Level III Orff Schulwerk Certification, and Master and Doctorate degrees in Music Theory. In addition to his work with students at The Key School, Rick also currently teaches music theory at the University of Maryland, and Orff Schulwerk levels (II and III) training courses at Southern Methodist University, George Mason University, and Dominican College. He has been a clinician at numerous American Orff Schulwerk chapter workshops and has presented regularly at the national conference of the American Orff Schulwerk Association since 1988. Rick's international teaching includes the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria, Canada, and Taipei, Taiwan.
Jim Solomon
Jim Solomon is an author, national clinician, and National Board Certified Teacher. He teaches at R. B. Hunt Elementary in St. Augustine, FL, where he works with general music classes, Chorus, Recorder Club, and D.R.U.M. Jim is a former St. Johns County "Teacher of the Year." He has taught Level I Orff for over 20 years. He recently presented a Master Class in Rhythmic Training at the National Orff Conference.
Diane Lange
Dr. Diane Lange is Associate Professor and Area Coordinator of Music Education at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she oversees the music education area and teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood and Elementary Music Education. She is a past-president of the North Texas Chapter of AOSA, and is currently President-Elect for the National GIML (Gordon Institute for Music Learning).
